Master of Critical Care Paramedicine

In the field of emergency medical response, the role of a paramedic transcends practical skills — it demands exceptional leadership and a profound depth of clinical knowledge. The Master of Critical Care Paramedicine programme was tailored precisely for this need, ensuring students develop the skills required to make critical decisions with precision and confidence. Its practical approach ensures that paramedics are not only well-versed in theory but can seamlessly translate their knowledge into impactful action.

“Students complete a practicum unit that includes a clinical placement in the Operating Theatre working alongside an Anaesthetist, and a clinical placement in the Intensive Care Unit being mentored by Medical Registrars and Consultants,” explains David Ford. “The unit can be completed in the student's home country or an alternative international location.”

Students also have the chance to practise and perform a range of clinical competencies, such as advanced airway management, mechanical ventilation, invasive pressure monitoring, inotropic drug support, cardioversion, and sedation. This level of exposure ensures that graduates will be well-placed to take on clinical leadership roles within jurisdictional ambulance services and make positive contributions to the world of patient care.
