Annabelle

Life outside the classroom has been just as enriching. In a recent project, Annabelle and her peers designed innovative methods of sustainable tree planting, highlighting the school's commitment to a greener future. On the field, her passion for football flourished. Being a core team member taught her the values of teamwork, perseverance, and determination. “These are skills that are used for having a brighter future,” she says.

Once she enters Senior School, she hopes to continue focusing on sustainability and sports while advancing her love for the sciences in more advanced laboratories — all of which she knows will wow admissions officers once she’s ready to apply to the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.

At 10, Annabelle has already discovered her calling to one day become a biologist — a realisation she credits to Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi’s ability to help international students feel at home. From her first week on campus, she felt a sense of belonging as her fellow students welcomed her with open arms.

Annabelle’s favourite classes, such as Topic and SE21, ignited her curiosity and creativity. The science lab became a sanctuary of discovery, while the passion projects in SE21 allowed her to explore her interests deeper. “Mr. Hudson, Mr. McGilly and Ms. Brougham always make lessons fun and interesting,” she says. “They also conduct diverse activities, so we never feel like we’re in a strictly organised lesson.”
