Climate change is the defining issue of our time, and its impact can no longer go unnoticed. The demand for skilled engineers with a holistic knowledge of climate and sustainability is only going to grow. Duke’s Master of Engineering in Climate & Sustainability Engineering transforms students from eager agents of change to full-fledged professionals ready to drive mitigation and adaptation solutions.
The curriculum equips students with knowledge and skills in energy transition, infrastructure adaptation and mitigation, sustainable materials and sustainable business. Courses cover life cycle assessment and circular economy, climate finance, data and modelling, social equity and justice, the regulatory landscape and community engagement. An internship is required, alongside core courses on management and business as well as workshops and seminars on topics such as “Leadership and teamwork” and “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Toward Global Climate Justice.”
