Is Canada the new land of opportunity?

CHINA

Preparing for global success has never been easier — and Canada, with its diverse cultures, is the perfect starting point. Here, you could explore the European-like wineries of the Niagara Peninsula during day time and get a glimpse of Iceland in the Northwest Territories by night.

Is Canada the new land of opportunity?

CHINA

A good career and a fulfilling life — these are more within reach than we think. And few study destinations help international students evolve into job-ready, global citizens ready to achieve both. One of them is Canada.

To see the true potential of Canada, head east — specifically, to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here, you’ll find a province with skilled and ambitious people, with scant reason to leave. Other talented folks, from within and beyond the country, are moving here, drawn to its excellent quality of life and economic opportunities. In 2021, close to 10,000 more Canadians moved to Nova Scotia compared to other provinces. Over 10,000 immigrants moved here in the same year.

Both groups are in search of better living — and in Halifax, they find it. As they pursue ventures and businesses in Nova Scotia’s city by the sea, they can hop aboard North America's longest running saltwater ferry, check out locally-owned shops and galleries, taste lobster lobster flambé served on toast, and savour the good life at its nearly four-kilometre long harbourfront boardwalk that’s lined with hip restaurants, cafes and entertainment venues.

“Our Dalhousie International Students Association, Together@Dal programme, and so many societies always have something to offer international students from support to cultural events. For example, we celebrate Diwali, Navaratri, Holi, and Uttarayan in Halifax just like in India.”

Dalhousie hosts over 20,000 students from more than 120 countries, making up a diverse and inclusive community. These stem across all four of its campuses in two quintessentially Canadian locations. Live a modern and fast-paced life in the glimmering city of Halifax or choose a relaxing, peaceful retreat in the charming town of Truro. Either way, there’s something for everybody.

You’ll study unique programmes in the region — ideal for any forward-thinking opportunist. Its 200 programmes let students learn by doing and in teams — bringing education outside of the classroom and into the real world. Take the Cooperative Education programmes as an example. Whether it’s a co-op for science, IT, engineering, commerce or architecture, each lets you apply what you learn in classrooms to professional settings.

It’s an approach that works. Dalhousie graduates go on to achieve great things, from leading the move towards clean technology to exploring spatial meaning in video game environments. Each effort is a valuable contribution to society, making for a deeper understanding of our world as we know it — and thus working to improve it for future generations.

Along the way, you’ll meet and connect with intelligent, creative minds from around the world. Dalhousie acts as a space for collaboration and connection, bringing you closer to different cultures, celebrations and customs. The result is a community of globally aware and responsible citizens of the world — one that understands the value of moving forward together rather than apart.
