The impact of this approach has seen many of its graduates secure roles as software engineers, cybersecurity specialists, data analysts, and IT project managers. Others have moved into research and academia, contributing to innovations in AI, cloud computing, and secure systems.

"All our programmes strike a balance between core theoretical knowledge and practical application," says Dr. Sabih Rehman, Course Director and Senior Lecturer in Computing. Hear from the graduates and students

Since childhood, Shahwal Mohsin has had a strong interest in information technology. This passion guided him toward a bachelor’s degree in computer science in Pakistan, where he

also gained valuable experience in the field. Hoping to advance his studies, he moved to Australia and chose Charles Sturt in Port Macquarie, attracted by its reputation and smaller-town setting.

As part of the MPIT Software Development programme, he often applied classroom knowledge to projects. "For example, in the Android Development subject, I made an app as a last assessment in Android Studio with all the resources provided," he says. "We had two teachers for the subject, and the lab work was very beneficial, which made me able to polish my programming skills that really helped me now in my career."

From day one, Mohsin’s professors encouraged him to explore opportunities and study emerging technologies. With their support and the WPL team’s guidance, he secured his first job soon after graduation. Today, he works as an IT System Analyst at MSP Photography in Wagga Wagga.
