Hence why all plant science students are welcome to spend a semester studying and visiting local farms in Costa Rica.

In the plant science programme, students gain technical proficiency in identifying globally important food and ornamental plants and applying theoretical sciences to their cultivation, maintenance, and post-harvest handling. They will also be taught to assess and adapt cultural practices, economic applications, and environmental interactions essential for the sustainable production of food, fibre, or ornamental plants. The list goes on — lessons even span complex problem-solving, ethical decision-making, as well as organising, synthesising, evaluating, and presenting information to various stakeholder groups.
