Education has the power to transform lives and at Box Hill School, nurturing tomorrow’s leaders for a brighter future is at the core of its mission.
A Box Hill School education is holistic and personalised. This comes from a deep appreciation of every child’s unique talents and skills, which allows teachers and staff to meet the needs of every individual.
Here, located in a strategically-connected, picturesque area of Surrey, children aren’t boxed into categories, labels and limits in the pursuit of grades alone. Instead, they learn, grow, question, lead and become. They develop compassion, understanding and wisdom. Within and outside their comfort zones, they forge resilience and courage to do more for their community and beyond.

A curriculum that ensures a breadth and balance of subjects
Box Hill School students excel academically thanks to a well-rounded academic journey. From lower school to middle school, a diverse range of subjects is offered such as biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, design technology, art, drama, English, French, Spanish, geography, history, mathematics, music, physical education and PSHEE (personal, social, health and economic education).
In Year 11, students take (I)/GCSEs, followed by a choice of either A Levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) in Sixth Form. This flexibility allows students to tailor their educational path based on their interests and aspirations.
On any given day, Boxhillians are always exploring their interests and passions. The school offers a wide range of opportunities and experiences that develop the intellectual, creative, physical, and emotional capabilities. These include trips, visits, performances, various activities throughout the school year and an extensive co-curricular programme.
Whether they’re producing a new track in the high-tech recording studio, practising for the Summer Concert, rehearsing for a full-stage drama production, joining London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) lessons, playing around with computer aided design (CAD) software or competing in over 22 team and individual sporting activities like football, cricket and cross-country, Box Hill School students are curious and continually learning.

Learning that goes beyond the classroom
As a founding Round Square school, Box Hill School is part of the global network which has grown to over 200 schools in 50 countries across the world. Round Square schools are characterised by a shared belief in an approach to education built around six themes known as the IDEALS (Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership and Service).
Opportunities for Sixth Formers here reflect these shared aspirations. There are various activities that help students grow into well-rounded individuals ready for the challenges of adulthood. Joining school committees, taking up leadership roles, and participating in trips, recreational activities, and social events not only look great on their CVs but also helps them hone important life skills.
The result? Graduates who are set for university and beyond. Box Hill School graduates have gone on to study Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London, Economics at the University of Manchester, Geography at King’s College London, among many others.
Head Boy Harrison, who joined Box Hill School in Year 7, scored 3 A*s. When asked about his favourite memory of Box Hill School he said, "I will never forget Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh, being Head Boy and turning my grades around."
Head Girl Chi, originally from Nigeria, scored 41 points in the IB Diploma. “When my results were revealed I was ecstatic and on top of the world!” she says. “I have worked hard and I’m glad that my efforts have turned into good results!”

Hear from the students
“I love boarding at Box Hill School because I get to meet people from all around the world. It’s a really kind, friendly atmosphere here at Box Hill School. My favourite thing would just be how close we all are -- it’s a community. There’s no real separation with the day pupils either. And it is beautiful around here. It’s a great, great feeling waking up in a place like this.”
Katya
“Everyone here is very supportive. In the evenings I spend my time going to the gym and the sport hall – I usually play basketball with my team. On the weekend I check out and go to London with my friends and just enjoy life!”
Champ

“In terms of academics, I have navigated my way through the range of courses available and have noticed the IB Diploma is something which I take huge interest in. A few years ago, I would have never even of thought of this. Now I know what I want for my future thanks to the guidance from my teachers. I have been able to look at my grades and organise meetings with teachers where I look at options based on professions which I take interest in.”
