The Trinity Institute for Social Justice

The Trinity Institute for Leadership and Social Justice at Boston Trinity Academy empowers students to integrate faith, learning, and service. Through civic engagement and personal actions, students raise awareness of local and global concerns and develop as servant leaders. Action groups, led by students, focus on specific issues of social or environmental justice through advocacy, awareness, and service. These groups cultivate leadership skills and values, meeting both in and out of school to address pressing issues and impact the wider community.

Current action groups include BTA Green, Refugee Care, Homeless Care Initiative, Lions for Life, R.A.C.E., Spark (drug awareness), and Special Needs Outreach.

One of the major school wide events put on by the Trinity Institute is Trinity Term. Trinity term is an interim week in February that aims to explore the question of "who is our neighbor" in a global context. Students and faculty alike attend the four day, in-school conference which includes workshops and seminars led by scholars, experts, and professionals well informed on topics concerning the geographical area of focus. Students also work on hands-on projects which they present and exhibit at the conclusion of Trinity term. In past years, neighbors have included Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, Latin America, Africa, East Asia, and the Caribbean.
