Roya Izadi

Class of 2022

Raised in Iran, Roya Izadi grew up in a world where politics infiltrates every facet of life, far more intensely than in the US. For women and minorities, this dynamic is even more profound. As a woman who didn’t conform to societal norms, Izadi was drawn to politics, captivated by its tangible influence on daily life.

Her journey led her to Binghamton, where she pursued her passion for political science. "I wanted to work with Professor Dave Clark, Benjamin Fordham, and Katja Kleinberg," she says. "I ended up writing my dissertation under their supervision."

As a teaching assistant for Professors Kleinberg and Fordham, Izadi honed her quantitative skills, which is the expertise she now brings to her own teaching. In her courses, she dedicates significant class time to guiding students in hypothesis testing, a skill directly acquired from her experiences as a learner at Binghamton.

"The method training I received at Binghamton was instrumental in refining my expertise and preparing me for a successful career in the field," she says.
