Julie from Myanmar has always been drawn to the prospect of working with people across service, business, culture, and leadership. She saw the BBA as the best option in Asia for someone with her ambitions.
As part of the programme, she completed two internships at luxury hotels of her choice:
First internship: Concierge intern at Rosewood Bangkok
In her first internship, Julie worked within the Front Office department. Her responsibilities included arranging transportation for guests, assisting VIPs, and safeguarding their privacy throughout their stay.
“Working in a guest-facing role gave me countless opportunities to interact with people from different backgrounds every day. Over time, it helped me become much more confident in communicating with guests and resolving issues quickly,” she says.
Second internship: Talent & Culture Intern at Rosewood New Zealand
Julie’s second internship offered a very different perspective from her first, which focused on operations. This time, she gained exposure to a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, job advertisements, and talent sourcing.
“What stood out most was the level of trust. Despite being an intern, I was invited to attend meetings, contribute ideas, and even lead discussions. This made me feel like an important part of the organisation,” she says.
“Together, the two internships gave me a much fuller picture of how hospitality organisations work. More importantly, they helped me realise that I enjoy helping others succeed.”
